BEAUTY AND THE BEAST BLU RAY REVIEW

So Beauty and the Beast the first animated movie and first disny animated movie to be nominated for best picture has hit Blu Ray. Disney has re release this movie as the 2nd in their Diamond Blu Ray collection. The movie for the first time is in HD but this version has some things about it that makes it fall flat

Fist of all the Movie has been converted to HD(which is what blu ray is) but in doing so it loses what the 2002 dvd had. The 2002 dvd was the first time the movie has been restored from the original film. The 2002 dvd the movie was brighter and colors were vivider and the ballroom scene looked beautiful. Now for the Blu Ray re release of the movie, the movie was once again restored and converted to HD. In doing so the Blu Ray version loses itS color(not sure if it was my tv or the way I had my blu ray player connected but I saw the this version had a lot of darker colors in some scenes). The blu ray version of the movie look as if it did when it first came out in the early 1990s the movie colors were dark in some scenes all the vividness and beauty that the dvd version brought was gone, the ballroom scene look as it did in the early 1990s version dark. Seeing as color is suppose to pop on a blu ray, where was the color that the 2002 dvd version brought us? other then that the main menu on the blu ray is confusing unless you read the map that comes with the Blu Ray your going to get lost trying to find all of the bonus stuff. The blu ray has all new bonus stuff made just for this edition plus all the bonus stuff that was in the 2002 dvd.

The Blue Ray Come is a combo pack and comes with 3 disc the 1st disc is the Blu Ray it has the movie in HD and blu ray bonus stuff, the 2nd disc is another blu ray which has all the bonus stuff from the 2002 dvd release and the 3rd disc is the dvd version of the movie(which I have yet to see). So now my rating system: I give this blu ray release of Beauty and the Beast at B-, why? well it is a great release(seeing it in the first time in HD) but it has confusing menus, the film is very dark in color in some scenes and it also has a beautiful cover that comes with a slip cover and sparkles if you hold it just right in the light.

So should you upgrade from the 2002 dvd to the blu ray? Yes all disney movies should be bought in blu ray.

Here are the different home release version of Beauty and the Beast:
From left to right the original early 1990s VHS tape, the 2002 dvd and the blu ray

To All The Precious Kids Around The World

The other day i was watching a moving movie called Precious. This movie is about what one teenage girl had to go through with her mom. All the abuse that this brave young girl had to face and deal with from rape to being hit almost every day by her own mother. This movie shows that many kids around the world have to face kind of the same thing everyday. Some make it through and become brave strong adults, while other are not lucky and end up getting killed or commenting suicide.

For these kids that have to face the kind of things that the young girl faced in the movie, they are the heroes that are fighting a battle that some will win and some will lose. If the person reading this or someone they know is going through what Precious went through in the movie, remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. There is hope don't give up. Don't lose the battle win the war, show them that nothing can bring you down. That you are strong and will one day not take this abuse no more. Show them all by making your life better.
